Weekly Update, October 9th, 2026

Hi church,

I hope you're enjoying the sermon series on the parables of Jesus. This week and next I will cover the Parable of the Prodigal Son. It is truly an amazing passage that has more to it than is sometimes understood. Invite a friend who needs to know the Lord. Just a reminder about the new class beginning next Sunday morning (October 18th) led by Kurt Russell. The booklet for the class is free. See the information below.

Harvest Fest

Harvest Fest is Saturday, Oct. 17 from 11am-1pm and is free for everyone! This is one of our biggest outreach events of the year. We welcome our neighbors to our campus to provide a fun fall activity for the whole family. We will have a petting zoo, face painting, axe throwing, carnival games, and free food. Invite your family, friends and neighbors!

To make this a success we need lots of volunteers!

Pre-event volunteers: hay bale maze creator, Chili Cook-off organizer(s), Chili Cook-off judges (3), Chili Cook-off participants, donate baked good for the “Cake Walk,” prepare welcome bags for guests

Set-up crew: 9am-11am

Event volunteers: Welcome/registration table, facepainting (2-6 volunteers), food volunteers (hand out popcorn, hot dogs and drinks), game booth volunteers, hot dog griller (start at 10:30am)

Tear down/clean up: 1pm-3pm

Please sign up in the church app or at the Connect Center to volunteer.

Men’s Ministry Football Watch Party

This coming Monday night is the Men’s Ministry Monday Night Football Watch Party at the church in the multipurpose room as the Rams take on the Bills. We’ll watch the game, enjoy some food, and just hang out. We’re looking to have Buffalo Wild Wings cater and are asking for $5 per person to help cover the cost. That said, please do not let the $5 keep you from coming – we would much rather have you there! Sign up in the church app or at the Connect Center.

Parenting Class – Wednesday Nights

Parenting is hard… really hard. And today’s culture makes parenting harder than ever before. The Bible is not silent on issues like AI, screen time, anxiety, media, and all the other challenges our children face today. Come learn foundational truths that will help equip you for the challenges parents face. Join us Wednesday nights from 6:30pm-7:45pm in room 102.

Light House Meal

Our next time to cook for the Light House Homeless Prevention Center is Tuesday, Oct. 27. We will cook a meal for 50 people and need 4 people to prepare the food. You can choose to cook a main dish (must include a protein), a vegetable side dish, a starch side dish, and/or dessert. The food must be prepared in the Light House kitchen beginning at 4pm. Please save your receipts and you will be reimbursed for the cost of food. We also need 3 people to serve the meal. Sign up in the church app or at the Connect Center.

Christmas Play and Musical

This Christmas season, we will be presenting a special Christmas play and musical, and we are looking for interested actors and singers (adults or youth) who would like to be part of the production. Participants should be willing to commit to regular rehearsals as we prepare for the performance. Whether you enjoy acting, singing, or both, we would love to have you join us as we work together to share the message of Christmas through music and drama. If you are interested in participating, please sign up in the church app, at the Connect Center, or talk to Andy Hallmark.

Business Meeting

Our next business meeting will be Oct. 21 at 6pm in room 102 (next to the church office). We will review the financial reports for June, July, August, and September, as well as hear ministry updates.
