Weekly Update, October 16th, 2026

Hi church,

I encourage you to join us for prayer Sunday mornings at 9am in Room 105. God calls the church to be a praying church, not just individually, but corporately. As you read the book of Acts it is striking how much the early church prayed together. Why did they make such a remarkable impact on the world? Corporate prayer was foundational.

Harvest Fest

Tomorrow from 11am-1pm! We can still use a few volunteers. If interested, please sign up in the church app or just show up.

My New Life Class

A new short-term discipleship class begins this Sunday. It is essential for Christians to establish a firm foundation of faith that leads to a lifetime of spiritual growth! The study includes topics like knowing the Gospel, the character of God, spiritual disciplines, evangelism, and much more. This 6-week class will meet at 10am on Sundays in room 105 and will be led by Kurt Russell. You can register for the class in the church app or at the Connect Center.

Light House Meal

Our next time to cook for the Light House Homeless Prevention Center is Tuesday, Oct. 27. We still need people to prepare a vegetable, a starch, and dessert. We also need a couple people to serve the meal. Food must be prepared in the Light House kitchen and must serve 50 people. Please save your receipts and you will be reimbursed for the cost of food. Sign up in the church app or at the Connect Center.

Christmas Play and Musical

This Christmas, Weems Creek will present Casting Call, a Christmas play filled with humor, heart, and a powerful reminder of the true meaning of Christmas. The performance will be Sunday evening, Dec. 20, and we are inviting adults and youth interested in acting or singing to participate!

We have developed a rehearsal schedule designed to minimize everyone's time commitment. We'll begin with a casting session on Sunday, October 25, from 12:45–3:15pm. A light lunch and snacks will be provided. Everyone who wants to participate will have a role, whether speaking or nonspeaking, and no acting experience is necessary!

Following casting, actors will rehearse their individual scenes on Sunday afternoons (November 1, 8, 15, and 22). These will be short, 35–40-minute sessions, so participants will only need to attend their assigned times.

Full rehearsals will take place on three Saturday mornings: December 5, December 12, and December 19 from 9:30am–noon. These will bring together the cast, music, costumes, and technical elements in preparation for the December 20 performance.

Whether you're an experienced performer or just interested in trying something new, we'd love to have you involved! Sign up in the church app, at the Connect Center, or contact Andy Hallmark for more information.

75th Anniversary Recap

There are many people who were unable to attend the 75th Anniversary Celebration or didn’t get a chance to see the display boards. This Sunday, the boards will be in the atrium, and we will see pictures from the event during the offering. The church has an amazing history!

Parenting Class – Wednesday Nights

Parenting is hard… really hard. And today’s culture makes parenting harder than ever before. The Bible is not silent on issues like AI, screen time, anxiety, media, and all the other challenges our children face today. Come learn foundational truths that will help equip you for the challenges parents face. Join us Wednesday nights from 6:30pm-7:45pm in room 102.

Children’s Ministry Volunteers Needed

Molding little hearts can have a lasting impact. Help our children know they are loved by God and our church family. A few more caring hearts are needed for Awana and for childcare on Sundays. Please connect with Elaine Bachhuber (children@weemscreek.com) if interested. Background checks and additional training is required.

Baby Bottle Campaign Update

This week, we received our total amount donated to Wellspring Life Ministries through the baby bottle campaign. Weems Creek donated $4,819.89! We were the top donating church. This money truly makes a difference in saving babies, serving women, and sharing the love of Jesus in our community.

GriefShare

GriefShare is a support group where people find direction and help after a loved one’s death. Each week we watch a video on a grief related topic. Then the group will discuss the content and how it applies to your life. This group meets on Sundays from 3pm-4:30pm beginning this Sunday.

To sign up for GriefShare: go to griefshare.org in your computer’s browser.

At the top of the page, look for the heading, “Find A Group” and click on it.
