Weekly Update, July 18th, 2025

Hi Church,

Hope you're able to join us this Sunday for fellowship, worship, and learning God's word. As I continue the series in Proverbs, this week I will preach about Sexual Purity, a very important theme in Proverbs and throughout Scripture. Our passage gives strong warnings as well as encouragement to enjoy intimacy within God's design of marriage. Also, our new Associate Pastor Scott Allred will join us. We're excited to welcome him. He will begin teaching his Sunday school class on August 10th.

Orioles Faith Night

Our next church-wide fellowship is the Orioles Faith Night on Aug. 12th! The game starts at 6:35pm and is against the Seattle Mariners. After the game, some players will share their testimonies and you’ll enjoy a postgame concert, all included with ticket price. Tickets are $21 and must be purchased by Wednesday, July 30th. Please sign up in the church app, using this link Orioles Tickets, or at the Connect Center. We will be taking the minibus but it will be a long walk between the bus and gate so it may not be a good option for those with mobility or respiratory issues.

Swim. Eat. Repeat.

Young Adults (up to mid-30s) are invited to the Hallmark’s house in Arnold for an epic pool party. This is Nacho average pool party – there will be Mexican food, fellowship and fun! Come and swim or just hang out. If you are in this age group and haven’t connected yet, this will be a great time to get to know others. Please sign up using this link Swim. Eat. Repeat., in the church app, or at the Connect Center. The address will be provided at that time. Don’t forget a towel!

Business Meeting

Our next business meeting is this coming Wednesday, July 23 at 6pm. We will review and vote on two chapters of our Personnel Manual, as well as hear an update on the worship equipment. New members will be voted in, and financial reports will be reviewed. Members, please plan to attend if at all possible.

Naval Academy Ride Ministry

This past year, several members of our church have been offering rides to midshipmen from the Naval Academy to Weems Creek (and back) on Sunday mornings. We are looking for additional volunteers to help support and grow this ministry to the Naval Academy. Our hope is to eventually have enough mids that we need the minibus to transport them. Please contact the church office (office@weemscreek.com / 410-266-5527) with any questions or to volunteer. If you have an ID to drive onto the Yard, that would be a bonus.

Backpacks for Germantown Elementary

Once again, we are providing filled backpacks for some students at a local elementary school. If you would like to participate, please use this Amazon link: School Supply List. All orders should be placed by Aug. 3 and delivered to the church by Aug. 10. Our VBS kids brought in the majority of needed supplies, but we still need a few things.

Young Adult Retreat

The Arundel Baptist Association is planning a young adult (up to mid-30s, married and single) retreat with other local churches. Worship sessions, speakers, recreation, free time, and breakout sessions on topics of interest will be part of the weekend. This event will encourage and inspire! The event is Oct. 31-Nov. 2 at Skycroft Retreat and Conference Center in Middletown, MD. Mark your calendars! More details to follow as the date gets closer. See Pastor Alex (alex@weemscreek.com) for more information.

Women’s Ministry Survey

The WCC Women's Ministry Team is honored to serve you, but they need your feedback! As they start to plan for the coming year's events, they would really like to hear from you so they can plan the most impactful activities. If you haven’t had a chance to complete the survey, you may use this link to access it: Women's Ministry Survey

Blessings!

Pastor Bryan
