Weekly Update, July 11th, 2025

Hi Church,

As the summer rolls along, hope you're enjoying the warm weather and outdoor activities. This Sunday I will continue our journey through Proverbs and the power of the tongue, focusing on the destructive effects of the tongue. While not always easy to apply, Proverbs gives a lot of warnings that we must heed if we are to act wisely and glorify God. May we live out Ephesians 4:29-32: "Let no corrupting talk come out of your mouths, but only such as is good for building up, as fits the occasion, that it may give grace to those who hear. And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, by whom you were sealed for the day of redemption. Let all bitterness and wrath and anger and clamor and slander be put away from you, along with all malice. Be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, as God in Christ forgave you."

Orioles Faith Night

Our next church-wide fellowship is the Orioles Faith Night on Aug. 12th! The game starts at 6:35pm and is against the Seattle Mariners. After the game, some players will share their testimonies and you’ll enjoy a postgame concert, all included with ticket price. Tickets are $21 and must be purchased by Wednesday, July 30th. Please sign up in the church app, using this link Orioles Tickets, or at the Connect Center. We will be taking the minibus but it will be a long walk between the bus and gate so it may not be a good option for those with mobility or respiratory issues.

Swim. Eat. Repeat.

Young Adults (up to mid-30s) are invited to the Hallmark’s house in Arnold for an epic pool party. This is Nacho average pool party – there will be Mexican food, fellowship and fun! Bring your bathing suit and a towel. Please sign up using this link Swim. Eat. Repeat., in the church app, or at the Connect Center. The address will be provided at that time.

SonShiners Trivial Pursuit & Lunch

Test your knowledge! The SonShiners will be playing Trivial Pursuit and having lunch on July 17 at noon in the multipurpose room. Expect good company, friendly competition, and lots of laughs! The church will provide pork barbecue, fried chicken and drinks. Please bring a side dish to share. Sign up at the Connect Center.

Women’s Ministry Survey

The WCC Women's Ministry Team is honored to serve you, but they need your feedback! As they start to plan for the coming year's events, they would really like to hear from you so they can plan the most impactful activities. This brief survey will be emailed on Monday to all the women of the church. Keep an eye out for it! If you currently do not receive emails from the church, stop by the Connect Center and give them your email address.

Business Meeting

Our next business meeting is Wednesday, July 23 at 6pm. We will review and vote on two chapters of our Personnel Manual, as well as hear an update on the worship equipment. New members will be voted in, and financial reports will be reviewed. Members, please plan to attend if at all possible.

Young Adult Retreat

The Arundel Baptist Association is planning a young adult (up to mid-30s, married and single) retreat with other local churches. Worship sessions, speakers, recreation, free time, and breakout sessions on topics of interest will be part of the weekend. This event will encourage and inspire! The event is Oct. 31-Nov. 2 at Skycroft Retreat and Conference Center in Middletown, MD. Mark your calendars! More details to follow as the date gets closer. See Pastor Alex (alex@weemscreek.com) for more information.

Puerto Rico Mission Trip

Our church is sending 10 people to Puerto Rico for a mission trip on July 26-August 1st. Please pray for the team and their impact serving Christ. If you would like to support financially, you may donate by check (please write “Mission Trip” or “Puerto Rico” on the memo line) or online by choosing “Puerto Rico Mission Trip” in the dropdown menu.
