Weekly Update, August 7th, 2026

Hi Church,

Please join us this Sunday as we celebrate the baptisms of five members of the Lewis family. We praise God for his work in their lives! Also, we are excited about the church's upcoming 75th anniversary next month on September 12-13. We want to celebrate the goodness of God for these many years!  As part of the celebration, we will have our annual picnic after the church service on September 13th. We expect a higher attendance this year because we are inviting previous members to join us so we are asking people to pre-register for the picnic so that we can plan accordingly.  It would be greatly appreciated if you register now and not wait until the last minute. You can do that in the church app or at the Connect Center. Also, we are asking people to bring a dish to share for the picnic.

Meals for the Annapolis Light House

After a 6-year break, we will once again be preparing and serving meals for the Light House. Our first meal will be Aug. 31st. We need someone to prepare a main dish (must include a protein), someone to prepare a veggie side dish, someone to prepare a starchy side dish, someone to prepare dessert, and four people to serve the meal. Each dish must serve 50 people. If you are interested, please sign up in the church app or at the Connect Center. If you have questions, please contact Katie Dimka at 904-377-8616.

Germantown Elementary

We have partnered with Germantown Elementary to support our local community. On Thursday, Aug. 20, they will have a Back to School event from 3-5pm. We are in need of 6-8 volunteers to pass out ice cream as the families leave. Please sign up in the church app or at the Connect Center to volunteer. The school address is 200 Windell Ave, Annapolis.

We are also donating 25 backpacks filled with school supplies. We will be stuffing the backpacks this Wednesday, Aug. 12 at 10am in the multipurpose room. If you would like to help, please sign up in the church app or at the Connect Center so we know how many to expect. Thank you to everyone who donated and purchased school supplies!

Serve Team Fair

God has made each one of us to be uniquely gifted and empowered in many different ways. Our church Serve Team Fair is the perfect place to see where your unique gifting may best fit in serving within the church. Whether you’re on a team or not, the Serve Team Fair is a great way to see all that the Lord is doing in and through Weems Creek Church – and perhaps, where God can use you as well! Join us Sunday, Aug. 30 directly following the service in the multipurpose room.

Orioles Faith Night – extra tickets

We have 3 free tickets available for the rescheduled Orioles Faith Night on Thursday, August 20 at 6:35pm. If you are interested, please contact Paige Crozier at 410-562-9457. First come, first serve.

SonShiners Baysox Game

The SonShiners are headed to the Chesapeake Baysox game for an exciting evening of baseball, cheering and fun together! Tickets are $11 and you must sign up by Sunday, Aug. 16. The church minibus is available for those who would prefer not to drive. It will leave the church at 5:30pm. Sign up in the church app or at the Connect Center.

Guppy Gulch

The Student Ministry will be ending their WCS week with a trip to Guppy Gulch on Thursday, Aug. 13. Once a slate quarry, this is a freshwater reservoir with inflatable slides, climbing walls, paddleboards, and jungle-gyms. Cost for Guppy Gulch is $20 per student and you must bring a sack lunch. Please register here or in the church app.

Prayer for Revival

Join us in the Student Ministry room to pray for God to bring a spiritual awakening to our community and nation. “Will you not revive us again, that your people may rejoice in you? Show your steadfast love, O Lord, and grant us your salvation.” Psalm 85:6-7. We will meet at 11am on Aug. 13.

Forgiven and Set Free Bible Study

If you're carrying the weight of a past abortion, you don't have to carry it alone. Later this month, Wellspring Life Ministry will begin Forgiven and Set Free, a compassionate and confidential Bible study for women seeking healing from the grief, guilt, and regret that can follow an abortion—even if it happened many years ago. A study for men with an abortion experience in their past is offered as well. Find God's healing and forgiveness through this compassionate, confidential Bible study. Learn more or register at wellspringlifeministry.org/PAS
