Weekly Update, June 5th, 2026
Hi Church,
Summer weather is hitting now! Hope you are staying cool. This Sunday we are excited to celebrate two baptisms and continue our series through the book of Job. We have many events as we seek to advance the kingdom in our community and around the world (see the note about the Greece missions trip). Please take a minute to read our update and get involved as the Lord leads.
Vacation Bible School Registration
Please register your children for Vacation Bible School. This helps us be prepared. VBS 2026 Illumination Station will be Sunday June 28th through Thursday July 2nd from 6-8:30pm for children who have completed PreK 4 – 6th grade. Please register your children in the church app or at https://www.weemscreek.com/vbs2026. If you are a volunteer who hasn’t registered, please do that using the same links.
Vacation Bible School Snacks & Shirts
We are seeking donations for Illumination Station Neon Snacks for the week of VBS. There are paper lightbulbs hanging with the items we need for the exciting treats the kids will enjoy the week of VBS. We are grateful for your generosity and support. Please put your donated items in the boxes below the table by 6/21.
VBS t-shirts will be available next Sunday in the atrium. They are $11 for volunteers and kids.
USA World Cup Watch Party
You don't have to be a soccer expert to enjoy the excitement of the World Cup! Join us on Friday, June 19, from 2:30-5pm, in the Multipurpose Room as we cheer on Team USA in their match against Australia. We'll have hamburgers, hot dogs, and a few Australian-inspired treats to enjoy during the game. Whether you're a lifelong soccer fan or just looking for a fun afternoon with friends, this is a great opportunity to gather, connect, and enjoy the excitement together. Bring a friend and come be part of the fun as we watch the USA take on Australia! Sign up in the church app or at the Connect Center.
Prayer for Revival
Join us as we pray for God to do a great work of salvation, transformation, and renewal in our church, community, and nation. “Will you not revive us again, that your people may rejoice in you? Show us your steadfast love, O Lord, and grant us your salvation.” Psalm 85:6-7. We will meet in the Student Room on Thursday, June 11 at 11am and pray for an hour.
Greece Mission Trip
This September (22nd – 29th), we are planning to send a team to Patras, Greece to work with the local church and minister to refugees. This is an opportunity to minister to those in need, encourage fellow believers and share the Gospel with those who have no hope. We have room for 2-5 more people to serve on the team. The cost is approximately $2,500 per person. The deadline to commit is June 15. Please contact Pastor Scott at scott@weemscreek.com for more information.
10 Questions About Pain & Suffering for Children
Kids have a lot of questions about God’s Word. This book, for ages 8-14, provides reliable, practical responses on their level. The book offers biblical answers about the origin and purpose of suffering, helping young readers navigate their pain, seek comfort in God, and help others in their time of distress. The book is available at the Connect Center and there is no charge.
Student Pool Party
Congrats! You made it through the year (well… almost!) and summer is here! Let’s celebrate with a pool party to cool off and enjoy some burgers and dogs together. Join us on Saturday, June 20 from 2-6pm at the Hallmark’s home in Arnold. Bring a friend and don’t forget your towel! Sign up in the church app.
Preparing and Serving Meals at The Light House
We need 4 to 8 volunteers to prepare and serve meals on Friday, June 12 at 3:30pm at The Light House Annapolis. The Light House is a homeless prevention center with approximately 45 residents. This is a great way to build relationships with those in need in our community. If you can cook, spoon food from a tray, or clean a pot, then this opportunity is for you. You may sign up in the church app or at the Connection Corner.
Digging Deeper with the Problem of Evil
Begins this Sunday evening – As a follow-up to the sermon series on Job, Pastor Bryan will lead a two-part discussion about the problem of evil. He will organize the main points from the sermons and cover other key points about why God allows evil and how we should respond. We will meet in the multipurpose room at 6pm on June 7th & 14th. Please sign up in the church app or at the Connect Center.
Baby Bottle Campaign
Once again, we will be filling baby bottles with money to support Wellspring Life Ministry. With your contribution we offer hope and encouragement to women in our community who believe abortion is their only option. You ensure that she receives the education, support, counseling, and tools she needs to choose life for herself and her baby. Most of all, you show that she is worthy of love, respect, and a life-changing relationship with Jesus.
Pick up your baby bottle(s) at the Connect Center on Sunday. Bottles can be returned to the Connect Center any time between now and Father’s Day.
