Weekly Update, May 8th, 2026
Hi Church,
Hope you are well. This Sunday, we look forward to celebrating the baptisms of a father and daughter – David Fee and Katelyn Hooper. Also, don't forget that we will have a photo backdrop for Mother's Day if you want to take a picture before or after the service!
Fellowship Program – Caden Mewshaw
Caden Mewshaw is being put forth before the church by the Pastoral staff to participate in the church’s Fellows Program. Caden sensed the Lord calling him into ministry and has since begun school at Cedarville University with the goal of entering pastoral ministry. As a Fellow, Caden will serve primarily in the Student Ministry, assisting Pastor Alex, but will have several other pastoral responsibilities as well. We will vote on Caden serving in this roll at the May 13 business meeting.
Men’s Ministry Breakfast
We are excited to kick off a Men’s Ministry summer study together starting Saturday, June 6 at 9:00 a.m. We’ll gather for breakfast, fellowship, and discussion as we work through the first five days of The Humility Project for Men together.
The Humility Project for Men is a study for men of all ages and life stages. Why is it relevant? Scripture and experience teach us that we all struggle with pride in various ways and it hurts our relationship with the Lord. We all need to grow in humility! There are 42 short devotionals. Cost of the book is $9. Please sign up and purchase your book in the church app or at the Connect Center.
One Body, Many Gifts: A Weems Creek Showcase
EVERYONE is invited to join us next Saturday, May 16th as we celebrate the unique talents and abilities within our church family! There will be demonstrations, displays, tasty samples, and performances. It will be a wonderful opportunity to connect with others, meet new people, and discover shared interests within our church. Join us in the multipurpose room from 2-4pm.
Participants, if you have not sent the requested information to Paige, please do that as soon as possible.
Business Meeting
Our next business meeting will be this coming Wednesday, May 13 at 6pm. We will be voting on Caden Mewshaw to serve in the Fellowship program this summer, as well as voting in new members, reviewing financial reports, and hearing ministry updates. We’ll meet in room 102 next to the church office.
VBS Training
VBS Volunteers! There will be a Training Meeting for all VBS volunteers on Sunday, May 17th from 12:30-2pm. Lunch will be provided. Childcare will not be available. We kindly ask that you try your best to attend this important meeting where we go over policies, schedules, curriculum, and all things Illumination Station! Please RSVP to Elaine Bachhuber at children@weemscreek.com.
Potluck Luncheon to Honor Melissa Gardner
We invite everyone to join us on Sunday, May 31st for a special potluck luncheon in honor of Melissa Gardner, who has faithfully served our church and poured so much love and care into our children’s ministry over the last three years. This will be a wonderful opportunity to thank her and celebrate the impact she has made in our church family.
The luncheon will take place immediately following the service, and will be held outside on the hill (weather permitting). Please plan to stay and enjoy this time of fellowship together.
This is a good old fashion potluck so please bring a dish or two to share (entrées, sides, salads, desserts).
SonShiners Brunch
The SonShiners (55 ) will be meeting at Double T Diner in Annapolis on Friday, May 15th at 10:30am for brunch. This will be a great time of fellowship. Please sign up in the church app or at the Connect Center so we can give the restaurant a headcount.
SonShiners River Cruise
The SonShiners will also be cruising down the Choptank River and enjoying lunch aboard on Thursday, June 4th. Tickets are $59 per person which includes lunch. You must sign up and pay by Sunday, May 17th. The cruise is from 12-2pm and originates in Hurlock, MD. If you would like to ride the church minibus, please indicate that when you sign up/register and meet at church by 10am. Please sign up in the church app or at the Connect Center.
Legacy Five Concert
Dove Award–winning Legacy Five is coming to Weems Creek Church! Recognized as one of gospel’s premier quartets, Legacy Five is celebrated for their rich harmonies and their powerful ability to communicate the message of Christ. Their masterful blend of five unique and versatile voices has earned them numerous awards.
Legacy Five has been featured at major events alongside Christian leaders such as David Jeremiah, Charles Stanley, and Bill Gaither, further cementing their reputation as a group whose music inspires, uplifts, and points listeners toward hope.
Join us for an unforgettable evening of encouragement and exceptional music as Legacy Five takes the stage at Weems Creek Church on Saturday, June 20 at 6pm. Tickets are $25 in advance ($30 at the door) and can be purchased in the church app or at the Connect Center.
Vacation Bible School Registration
VBS 2026 Illumination Station will be Sunday June 28th through Thursday July 2nd from 6-8:30pm for children who have completed PreK 4 – 6th grade. Please register your children in the church app or at https://www.weemscreek.com/vbs2026
