Weekly Update, April 17th, 2026

Hi Church,

We praise God for the life and activity of our church! Yesterday we hosted the BCMD evangelism conference and benefited from these training sessions. Thanks to everyone who participated from our church. Take a minute to read over our weekly email and see how you can make an impact for the kingdom of God. Let’s keep praying that God will use us as individuals and as a church to spread his gospel. 

Ladies’ Tea
Join us May 2nd for our annual Women’s Tea!  This year we will be hosting an afternoon tea with delicate finger foods, delicious sweets, and classic savory staples, all while enjoying some fellowship with one another! Ages elementary and up are welcome. The tea will be in the Multipurpose room from 3-5pm. 

One Body, Many Gifts: A Weems Creek Showcase
“One Body, Many Gifts” is a celebration of the unique talents and abilities within our church family! Whether you love to sing, bake, crochet, or paint — whether you have amazing dance moves or excel in athletics — we want to highlight the many ways God has gifted each of us.
Start thinking about how you’d like to share your gift or talent. It could be a live performance, a sweet treat to sample, a video clip to watch, an artifact to display, or something else unique! Everyone has many gifts and we want to highlight as many as possible, young and old! We can’t wait to celebrate together! Signups will begin April 19th.

Teaching Positions
Three teachers for the upcoming school year 2026/27: MS/HS English teacher, 5th grade teacher, & a 2nd grade teacher

Calvary Baptist Church Academy is a Christian school in Glen Burnie, MD that focuses on excellence in education. We have about 375 students with classes from K3 through the 12th grade. Work Day
We would love your assistance for our upcoming Church Work Day on April 25th! We are seeking volunteers with specific skills to help with a variety of projects around the property, including repairing a leaking window sill, spraying pesticide, washing the church bus, and completing door repairs such as replacing door closers, installing new door stoppers and seals, and painting an exterior door. Additional tasks include chainsawing down a tree, cleaning classrooms, replacing commercial light bulbs, cleaning the baptism, removing sticks in stormwater management areas, as well as assisting with setting up for the lunch that will be provided. Your time and talents would be greatly appreciated as we work together to care for and improve our shared space.

Students Big Event
The youth will be joining other churches in our area for a super fun time! Worship, Glow-in-the-Dark dodgeball, 9 Square, human hamster balls, pizza, a Gospel message, and more! It’ll be April 25th from 10:30am-2pm at Wonderfly Arena in Arbutus. Space is limited so be sure to register today at https://qrco.de/bigevent2026.

Vacation Bible School Training
VBS Volunteers! Learn all about the Illumination Station theme and get ideas for teaching, decorating, and lighting the way for VBS 2026. This is your all-access, hands-on training with fast-paced workshops packed with everything you need to glow with confidence this summer! VBS 2026 Illumination Station will be Sunday June 28th through Thursday July 2nd from 6-8:30pm for children who have completed PreK 4 – 6th grade. Please register your children in the church app or at https://www.weemscreek.com/vbs2026
