Weekly Update, August 15th, 2025

Hi Church,

I hope you’re able to join us this Sunday for Sunday School and Worship! We will be continuing our way through the book of Proverbs and examining what it has to say to us in regard to friendship. We are also looking forward to our Car Wash Outreach next Saturday so be sure to sign-up to help out and reach our community!

Caution

Another large branch has fallen from one of the oak trees on the hill behind the church. Parents, please do not allow children to play near or under the tree until the branch has been cleared and the tree has been pruned. If you are going to the playground please approach it from the right side. The gaga pit is still accessible but children should stay on the deck.

Car Wash Outreach

Weems Creek is looking for volunteers to minister to our community via a car wash outreach event. On Saturday, August 23rd, from 10am-2pm, we'll be offering free car washes to neighbors and friends at the church. We plan to offer light refreshments and have conversations with those who attend, getting to know them while sharing what ministries our church has to offer. Please invite those in your community, particularly if you live relatively close to church. We'll soon have flyers available to share with others.

We'll need volunteers to wash vehicles, direct traffic, and converse with those who attend. The plan is to have two shifts of people, so the commitment would be about 2.5 hours per shift. Sign up at the Connect Center or by calling the church office (410-266-5527).

Church Center App

Be sure to download the free Church Center app. You will be able to see what’s on the church calendar, signup and pay for events, see general church info, and listen to the pastor’s sermons. Search the App Store (iPhones) or Google Play (Androids) for “Church Center.” Then follow the steps to search for Weems Creek.

Business Meeting

The next business meeting will be on Aug. 27th at 6pm in the worship center. We will be voting to approve the Table of Contents and chapters 1 & 2 of the Personnel Manual. Please stop by the Connect Center to pick up those documents so they can be reviewed BEFORE the meeting. At the meeting we will answer any questions and vote on it. We will not be reviewing it section by section. We will also review the financial reports and possibly vote in new members.

Widow’s Walk Gathering

The widow ladies of our church, and their friends who are widows, are invited to gather for food and fellowship. They’ll meet at BJ & Brenda Hallmark’s home on Saturday, Sept. 6th at 2pm. Students Family Movie Night

Students and parents are invited to come together as we welcome in the new rising 6th grade students and their families (whole family is invited)! Join us for watching “Prince of Egypt” outside on the big screen with some freshly popped popcorn in your hand and your favorite candy by your side (snacks provided, but you are welcome to bring more). Students Baysox Game

The previously planned Baysox game was cancelled due to rain, but we’ve rescheduled! Students, grades 6-12 and their parents are welcome to join us Aug. 20 at 6:35pm. Tickets are $20 which includes a seat in a skybox and a $10 voucher for food. Sign up in the church app, at the Connect Center or by using this link: Students Baysox Game

SonShiners Baysox Game

The SonShiners (55 ) will be going to a Chesapeake Baysox game on Aug. 21. They will be playing the Richmond Flying Squirrels at 6:35pm. Tickets are $10 and you must sign up by THIS Sunday, Aug. 17.
