Weekly Update, May 23rd, 2025
Hi Church,
This Sunday I will speak about the mission of the church - what is the supreme purpose of the church? We need to know and embrace our God-given mission and then have that mission guide all of our ministries. God is good and has given us clear direction. Also, this Sunday Emma Antonelli will share about her upcoming 2 month mission trip to Thailand and Indonesia. Emma was baptized earlier this year and we're excited to hear about this opportunity.

Proverbs Reading Plan
On June 1st, we will start a sermon series on Proverbs, an incredibly practical and helpful book that covers topics like hard work, laziness, marriage, sexual temptation, speech, and parenting. Underlying all of this is the pursuit of wisdom which is sometimes called “the art of living well.” We encourage everyone to read Proverbs together as a church for June and July. Stop at the Connect Center to get a copy of the reading plan.
VBS Snacks
Help make VBS snacks a “Hive of Goodies”! Would you like to donate ingredients for some theme related VBS snacks? Choose a honeycomb from the wall in the atrium and bring your item(s) to church by June 8. There will be a tote in the same location to place your items.
Campfire & Calling: A Night of Fellowship and Worship
Join us for a night of worship around the firepit with an international focus. We will worship in song, hear testimonies from international mission trips, and there will be ice cream for purchase from a New Zealand ice cream truck! You can read more about this company and their ice cream here . They will also donate a portion of proceeds to our upcoming mission trips. Bring a chair or blanket and join us around the fire pit on June 1st!
Widow’s Walk Cookout
Ladies who are widows, please join us for a time of fellowship on June 1st after church at Brenda & BJ Hallmark’s home. Hamburgers, hot dogs, Italian sausage, condiments, and drinks will be provided. Please bring a side dish to share. Sign up at the Connect Center.
Calvary Baptist Church Academy
Calvary Baptist Church Academy is currently looking for a K4 (4-year-olds) teacher. Calvary is a Christian school in Glen Burnie, MD that focuses on excellence in education. It has about 350 students with classes from K3 through the 12th grade. Students test higher than the national average. Calvary has a good balance between teaching Christian principles and having a strong educational base. The teacher could have either a college degree or the 90-hour certification from the state for Pre-K. Experience is always a plus!
Blessings!
