Weekly Update, March 28th, 2025

Hi Church,

The men's retreat begins tonight at Camp Wabanna. Please pray for the Lord to encourage those attending and for the speaker - Mark Dooley from the BCMD. This Sunday we continue our series on the Gospel of John and focus on John 17. This prayer is truly remarkable as we can both emulate parts of the prayer and also recognize this was a unique moment as Jesus interceded for his church on the eve of the cross. What a moment, what a Savior!

Special Called Business Meeting

There will be a special called business meeting this Sunday after the service to vote on hiring Kurt Russell to fill the Outreach Fellowship position. There will be time for discussion and questions before the vote. Ballots will be available in the atrium.

Easter Egg Hunt – Volunteers Needed!

Mark your calendars for our annual Easter Egg Hunt on Saturday, April 5th from 1-3pm on the hill behind the church! This event is for families with toddlers through 5th graders and it is a great opportunity to invite friends & neighbors to our church! There will be two egg hunts (based on age), carnival games, a craft station, cookie making station, snacks, bubbles, and MORE! This is a free event for our church and community! Volunteers are needed to make this a successful outreach. We need help with set-up, hiding eggs, manning stations, face painting, and tear-down. Volunteers should arrive at 12pm or 12:30pm, depending on your responsibilities. Church Workday – April 12th, 9am-Noon

Just as we must maintain our houses, the Lord’s house needs to be maintained too. We are looking forward to this great time of fellowship, getting to know each other better and getting some work done around the church. There are inside and outside tasks – from moving mulch and picking up sticks to cleaning out closets and dusting. There’s a job for everyone! Lunch will be provided.

SonShiners – Toby’s Dinner Theatre

The SonShiners (55+) will be going to Toby’s Dinner Theatre to see The Music Man on April 23. Brunch will be 10:30am – 11:40am and the show will start at 12:30pm. The cost is $74.75. You MUST sign up and pay by this coming Wednesday, April 2. The church bus will leave at 10am. There is limited space on the church bus so seats will be given to the first 15 people who request to ride on the bus. You can sign up at the Connect Center, in the church app or by using this link: Toby's Dinner Theater. When you sign up in the church app or by using the provided link, you will also be able to pay in the registration form.

Student Events

Lock-in – Friday, April 18-19 from 7pm-7am. There will be lots of games, fun and fellowship. Bring a friend! This is a great time to introduce them to church.

The Big Event – April 26 at Wonderfly Arena from 3:30-7pm. We will be joining other churches in the area for a devotion, music, food and fun.

Easter at Weems Creek

Good Friday Service

April 18 at 6:30pm

Easter Sunday

We will have a service at 9:30am and 11am. There will be childcare (infants – PreK) for both services. Kids Worship will be held during the 11am service. There will be no Sunday School on Easter.

Teachers Needed for Calvary Baptist Church Academy

Calvary Baptist Church Academy is a Christian school in Glen Burnie, MD that focuses on excellence in education. They have a specific need for 4th grade teachers. The school has about 350 students with classes from K3 through the 12th grade. Their students test higher than the national average, and they have a good balance between teaching Christian principles and having a strong educational base.
