Weekly Update, March 21st, 2025

Hi Church,

Hope you are enjoying Spring now that it has officially arrived as of yesterday. This Sunday Chase Wood will share for a few minutes about his ministry. Chase serves as a Chaplain for Good News Jail and Prison Ministry at the Jennifer Road Detention Center. Our church has partnered with Chase for many years and in the past some of our people have volunteered there. Chase will also be available after the service in the atrium if you want to talk further.

Men’s Retreat

The retreat is one week from today, March 28-29 at Camp Wabanna in Edgewater, MD. Retreat registration is $60 and is open to all men, 9th grade and up. Please sign up at the Connect Center, in the church app, or by using this link: Men's Retreat so we know how many to prepare for.

Leadership is absolutely essential to life and to advance the kingdom of God. Simply put, God has designed our world in such a way that leadership plays a huge role! Also, leadership is something that each person will have an opportunity to display so we should seek to cultivate our own passion and skills for leadership. At our men's retreat, Mark Dooley will be speaking about leadership.

Two Business Meetings

There will be a business meeting on Wednesday evening at 6pm in the worship center. We will vote on a recommendation from the Personnel and Finance committees to add a Fellowship Program and amend the budget to support it. We will vote on this at the beginning of the meeting so that Awana workers can hear the recommendation and vote before needing to go upstairs.

There will be a special called business meeting on Sunday, 3/30 after the service to vote on hiring Kurt Russell to fill the Outreach Fellowship position, if passed on Wednesday night. There will be time for discussion and questions before the ballot vote.

Easter Egg Hunt – Volunteers Needed!

Mark your calendars for our annual Easter Egg Hunt on Saturday April 5th from 1-3pm on the hill behind the church! This event is for families with toddlers through 5th graders and it is a great opportunity to invite friends & neighbors to our church! There will be two egg hunts (based on age), carnival games, a craft station, cookie-making station, snacks, bubbles, and MORE! This is a free event for our church and community!

Volunteers are needed to make this a successful outreach. We need help with set-up, hiding eggs, manning stations, face painting, and tear-down. Volunteers should arrive at 12pm or 12:30pm, depending on your responsibilities. Please sign up at the Connect Center or email Melissa Gardner if you would like to volunteer!

Vehicle Assistance Needed

Bill Peacock, our Arundel Baptist Association Treasurer, asked to share a need regarding his nephew and his family. Bill and Ashley, who serve as IMB missionaries, will be home on furlough during June and July and require a vehicle for transportation while they are here with their three children. If you are able to assist or know of any available options, please contact Bill Peacock directly. Your kindness and support would be a tremendous blessing to this missionary family.

VBS Registration is Open for Participants!

Magnified! VBS 2025 registration is now open! Join us for a week of wildflower crafts, monarch missions, songbird music, raindrop recreation, and SO MUCH MORE! Vacation Bible School at Weems Creek Church is a free event open to the community June 22-26th from 6-8:30pm. Kids who are 4 years old (by June 1) through 6th grade are welcome to attend!
