Weekly Update, July 3rd, 2026
Hi Church,
Hope everyone has a great holiday on July 4th! Just a reminder about the new sermon series starting this Sunday: "Christianity in America: Past, Present, and Future." VBS has gone very well. Our VBS director, Elaine Bachhuber, wanted to share an update about it...
As I reflect on this year’s VBS, my heart is filled with gratitude. What an incredible week God gave us! We were blessed to welcome 80 children over the week. It was a joy to watch our children come alive with energy and excitement discovering more about God’s amazing love.
I want to say a heartfelt thank you to our entire church family. Whether you prayed, volunteered in Spotlight Bible Study with the children, helped Illuminate the decorations, made Neon Snacks, created Kaleidoscope Crafts, Glow in the Dark Missions, Mirror Ball Music, Suncatcher Recreation or blessed our VBS Lounge with snacks you were an important part of this ministry.
We may have reach the end of VBS week, but we know God is still at work. The seeds that were planted, the truths that were shared, and the light of Christ that shone so brightly throughout Illumination Station will continue to shine in their hearts long after the decorations have been packed away.
It has been a joy to serve alongside you and give God all the glory for all He has done.
75th Anniversary Celebration
We're excited to celebrate our church's 75th anniversary on Sept. 12th & 13th! We plan to make different displays of our church's history. To help us, contact the church office if you can provide the following: photos of church events, church directories, contact info for former church members who may like to attend, and 5-10 volunteers for short video testimony of what the church has meant to you or special stories of God’s grace.
New Sermon Series
As our nation celebrates its 250th anniversary, it is a great time to reflect on Christianity's remarkable impact on our country's founding. On July 5th and 12th, we will explore specific biblical truths that powerfully shaped our nation. Also, what about the future of America? As Christian citizens, we need to know how God deals with nations and pray accordingly.
Germany Mission Trip
This summer, we are sending a team of seven people to serve at an English Camp in Wölmersen Germany. We invite the Weems Creek family to join this mission in two ways:
Please pray for our team as they prepare for the trip. Pray for the volunteers who will be serving alongside them. And pray that those who do not yet know Christ will be drawn to a saving relationship with Jesus.
Prayerfully consider supporting the team financially. Your generosity helps make it possible for our team to serve and share the Gospel with students who may never have heard it clearly before.
Sunday Evening Service
Please join us on Sunday night, July 12th at 6pm for a special service. Caden Mewshaw, who has been serving in our church’s Fellowship program this summer, will preach, and we will have a time of prayer for our nation. We will meet in the multi-purpose room.
Prayer for America
The greatest way to serve our nation is to pray for it (Proverbs 14:34, 1 Timothy 2:1-4). Ultimately, God rules the nations and we should pray accordingly. We have a one week guide that provides a daily prayer focus, available at the Connect Center. We will pray as a church the week of July 5 and join together to have corporate prayer at the Sunday night service on July 12th.
Widow’s Walk Gathering
The next Widow’s Walk gathering will be on Saturday, July 18 at noon at Brenda Hallmark’s home. This is a BRING NO FOOD event. They will have Subway sandwiches and an ice cream bar. If you are able, please bring $5 to help with the cost of the food. Also bring an example to share of how God has walked with you since becoming a widow. It might be a Bible verse, a practice, or words of wisdom.
Prayer for Revival
Join us for an hour as we pray for our nation, state and community. We meet on the second Thursday of every month from 11am-12pm in the Student Ministry room. Our next Prayer for Revival is July 9th.
The Bless App
Using technology and publicly available records, the Bless App equips Christians to know their neighbors by name and prompts us to pray regularly for our neighborhood. Obedience to the Great Commission begins with prayer, and the Bless App guides us toward daily prayer for the people we pass every day in our community.
So far, twenty-five families at Weems Creek have committed to praying for their neighbors. Over the past several months, Weems Creek has adopted 1,192 homes and prayed for the spiritual welfare of those homes 3,060 times. We need you to join us in praying for the families of Anne Arundel County, asking God to bring salvation and transformation to our communities.
All you need to do is sign up at app.blesseveryhome.com. You'll start receiving daily reminders to pray for your neighbors, along with encouragement to build relationships that can lead to Gospel conversations.
Museum of the Bible
Weems Creek Church has been invited to offer our members and attenders a free one-year Light on a Hill membership to the Museum of the Bible for each family. This is a great way for you and your family to engage in the transformative power of the Bible through various exhibits and experiences. For your family to receive a free membership, you must access the registration page https://qrco.de/bgqAOE. Use the promo code “NEWMEMBER2026” at checkout to secure the free membership. There is additional information at the Connect Center.
Student Summer Nights
WCS week is a week full of games, food, and lessons centered on the gospel and knowing Jesus. Students are encouraged to bring friends as each night will focus on a unique aspect of the gospel message, culminating in our need to surrender our lives to Jesus! The final day of WCS will be an all-day event at Guppy Gulch. Dates are August 10-13 from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm. Cost for Guppy Gulch is $20 per student. Please register here or in the church app.
Notes from “The Problem with Evil” Class
The notes from this class will be available at the Connect Center on Sunday.
Parking
Recently, we have had people pull into the parking lot on Sunday morning but weren’t able to find a spot in the front lot so they left. If you are able, please park in the back parking lot so that our guests will have available spots in the front.
