Weekly Update, July 24th, 2026
Hi Church,
In my personal Bible reading I have been going through the prophet Isaiah. What an amazing book filled with big-picture truths about the exile and restoration of Israel, the suffering servant who would atone for sin, and the new creation. Also, there are wonderful individual truths for us to apply. For instance, Isaiah 26:3-4 says, "You keep him in perfect peace whose mind is stayed on you, because he trusts in you. Trust in the Lord forever, for the Lord God is an everlasting rock." When we focus on the Lord – his character and promises – we experience perfect peace. Make sure that you are intaking Scripture on a regular basis – your daily bread! We all need it.
The Humility Project – Men’s Breakfast
The Men’s Ministry will host a wrap-up breakfast tomorrow at 9am in the multipurpose room. We will cover the rest of the Humility Project devotional. If you have fallen behind, keep plugging along. There is no final exam!
Family Devotion Night
What if you could take a night off from cooking AND be equipped to have family devotions? Join us Wednesday, July 29 at 6pm for a meal and we will show you how to have a simple family devotion that can impact your family. This event is for the whole family. Please register in the church app or at the Connect Center.
Women’s Ministry Sip & Paint
Please join us Saturday, August 1st from 3-5pm for our first Sip & Paint! Ashley VanSant, a local artist born and raised in Kent County, MD, loves helping others learn how to experience the joy of expressing yourself through art! She will teach us how to paint a beautiful piece of art as we fellowship together. Light snacks and drinks (non-alcoholic) provided. Open to high school girls. There is a limit of 40 people, and you must sign up by THIS Wednesday, July 29. Cost is $25 per person. Please register in the church app or at the Connect Center.
School Supplies for Germantown Elementary
Our church is committed to supporting the community, and we believe providing school supplies is a vital way to empower young learners. Therefore, we have created a registry on Amazon. If you would like to participate, please use this link: Weems Creek Classroom List 2026. All supplies will be mailed to the church and must arrive by Aug. 1st.
Guppy Gulch
The Student Ministry will be ending their WCS week with a trip to Guppy Gulch. Once a slate quarry, this is a freshwater reservoir with inflatable slides, climbing walls, paddleboards, and jungle-gyms. Cost for Guppy Gulch is $20 per student and you must bring a sack lunch. Please register here or in the church app.
75th Anniversary Celebration
We're excited to celebrate our church's 75th anniversary on Sept. 12th & 13th! We plan to make different displays of our church's history. To help us, contact the church office if you can provide the following: photos of church events, contact info for former church members who may like to attend, and 5-10 volunteers for short video testimony of what the church has meant to you or special stories of God’s grace.
Minibus Committee
Our minibus is an important part of the ministry at Weems Creek. We are looking for a few people who would take turns doing a month preventative maintenance check and get the minibus washed. If you are interested in serving this way, please contact the church office (office@weemscreek.com, 410-266-5527).
