Weekly Update, September 19th, 2025

Hi Church,

Hope you are enjoying the last days of summer! If you are not a member of our church, I want to invite you to the Discovering Weems Creek Church class on Sunday, September 28th. This will give you a better idea of our church's beliefs, mission, and give you an opportunity to ask any questions you may have. You will also hear why church membership matters. The class will be held in room 111 at 12:15pm and should last about an hour. Lunch is provided and childcare (if needed). Please sign up by this Sunday so that we can prepare accordingly.

Next Level Class

To grow as a Christian, it is crucial to develop the spiritual disciplines of Bible reading and prayer. This class will discuss these disciplines and implement them by reading through Psalm 23, the Gospel of Luke, and Romans together as a class. Also, we will read a short book about essential Christian beliefs. We need to know the foundational truths of the faith. You can sign up for the class and the book ($10) using this link Next Level Class, in the church app or at the Connect Center. Books are available for purchase and pickup (if paid for online) at the Connect Center. This class will meet on Sunday evenings for 8 weeks starting this Sunday at 6pm in the multipurpose room. Let’s go to the Next Level of discipleship!

Harvest Fest

Harvest Fest is our annual event to reach out to our community, and it is coming up Saturday, October 18th from 11am-1pm. This event is an incredible opportunity to bless our community, share God’s love, and create lasting memories for families. Here’s how you can serve: donate candy & treats to be given out at the stations, donate baked goods for the Cake Walk, join the Chili Cook-off (bring your best recipe and some friendly competition!), judge the Chili Cook-off, help distribute food & drinks throughout the event, supervise games and crafts to bring fun to the kids and families, paint faces, set up, and clean up. Sign up at the Connect Center. There will be a bin in the atrium for candy and treat donations.

Moms in Prayer

Moms in Prayer is an international ministry that brings women together for pray for our children. We will be starting a Moms in Prayer group at our church on Sunday evenings. You do not need to be a mother to join in, all women are invited. As we seek to raise up the next generation of worshipers, it is impossible to do so without fervent prayer. It is a big task, and we are stronger in prayer together. There will be a brief informational meeting after the worship service on Sept. 28 at the front of the worship center on the right side. If you are pressed for time, feel free to stop and pick up the information sheets and ask any questions before the meeting starts. For questions, please contact Angela Sims (angela.rivers.sims@gmail.com)

LIFE Groups

LIFE Groups start this week on Sept. 22 and 23. There’s still time to sign up for either class!

Christianity, Cults & Religions: This 6-week study is perfect for those who want to know what Christianity teaches, what Christians believe and why, and the different beliefs of cults and world religions. This class meets on Mondays at 7pm at the Spurgeon’s home, near the church. Pastor Alex Streitmater will be leading. Register here: LIFE Group #1

Don’t Give the Enemy a Seat at Your Table: In this 6-week study, Pastor Louie Giglio unpacks Psalm 23 to offer insight into how to overcome the enemy’s lies and find peace and spiritual security in any circumstance or situation. We’ve all been in circumstances that cause our minds to spin with thoughts that are unproductive, destructive, and harmful. We need to recognize these thoughts are not from God, but from an enemy lurking who wants to seize every opportunity to lie his way into our minds. This class meets on Tuesdays at 6:30pm at the Wilson’s home in Annapolis. Shawn & Jenn Wilson will be leading. Register here: LIFE Group #2

Students Corn Maze

This may be corny but… the Student Ministry is going to have an aMAZEing time at Montpellier Farms on Saturday, Oct. 4. Join us for a night of corn maze and fall activities. Cost is $15. Please bring additional money for food. Sign up and pay using this link: Corn Maze, in the church app, or speak to Pastor Alex.

GriefShare

GriefShare is a biblically based, Christian grief recovery support group where you can find help and healing for the hurt of losing a loved one. Our next session begins this Sunday, Sept. 21 and meets Sunday afternoons from 3pm-4:15pm in room 111.  B.J. Hallmark will be leading this group. Please share this information with anyone who may benefit from these sessions. Participants may register online at griefshare.org. If you are unable to sign up online, you may sign up at the Connect Center.

Rides for Judy Hayes

Judy would like to come to Sunday school and worship each week but will need a ride. She lives in Heritage Harbor. If you are interested in providing an occasional ride, either to Sunday school or home from church, or both, please contact the church office (office@weemscreek.com / 410-266-5527). We would like to create a schedule so that no one is doing it more than once or twice a month.

Blessings!

Pastor Bryan
