Meet the Staff
We are a multigenerational church committed to authentic, healthy relationships that connect people with God and each other
What We Believe
Weems Creek Church is committed to the teaching of the Bible for both our theological understanding and how we live our lives. We welcome all who desire to worship Jesus with us. As we come together for worship, discipleship, and mission, the 2000 Baptist Faith and Message form the essence of our belief and practice. Click here for a full statement of faith
Our Core Values
We believe the Bible is God's inspired Word, the final authority for faith and practice. It is God's revelation of Himself and His ways to us. It teaches how to know Him, what to believe and how to live. The Bible is relevant to the needs of all people at all times and to the specific problems of contemporary living. Therefore, we are committed to equipping Christians, through the preaching and teaching of God's Word, to follow Christ in every sphere of life.
We believe authentic worship is God-centered and life transforming. It fuels the fire of devotion in the heart, facilitates constant renewal, and motivates believers to sacrificial service. Both corporate and individual worship are vital to spiritual health. We also believe genuine worship is a strong witness to unbelievers. Therefore, we give priority to planning and facilitating Spirit-led worship of the one true God.
We believe it is God's will that every believer grow to maturity in Christ. Therefore, we provide ongoing opportunities for spiritual growth and equipping for service. We believe the family is God's primary unit for ministry. Therefore, we seek to provide an atmosphere, which strengthens marriages and families. We are committed to vibrant youth and children's ministries. We believe God has called us to live out His command to 'love one another' (John 13:34). Therefore we stress healthy, loving relationships that build up and encourage believers, empower our witness to the world, and make serving together a joy.
We believe God has called us to give priority to His command to make disciples of all nations (Matthew 28:18-20), and to our role as His witnesses (Acts 1:8). Jesus came to seek and to save the lost. He loves them and calls us to do the same. Therefore, we seek to be effective locally and involved worldwide. We will focus on leading people to Christ…one life at a time.
We believe in encouraging a prayer-guided faith that is willing to take bold risks. God has called us to be a people of prayer. He has revealed Himself as the God who hears and answers prayer (Matthew 7:7-11). Therefore, our ministries and activities will be characterized by a reliance on prayer combined with faith and obedience (Hebrews 11:6).
God calls us to demonstrate the attitude of Jesus who came 'not to be served, but to serve' (Matthew 20:28; Philippians 2:5-8). Therefore we seek to develop our God-given gifts and talents for service to Christ and His church (1 Peter 4:10). We also believe in manifesting the love and grace of God in practical ways in the community and throughout the world.
History of Weems Creek
Weems Creek Baptist Chapel held its first service on February 11, 1951. The newly formed Church body was a church plant of College Avenue Baptist Church. Like many church plants, the Church had no building of its own and met in the Garden Farms Community Building. In late 1952 the church’s first building committee met to discuss how best to house the growing church ministries. The church formally became Weems Creek Baptist Church in 1953 with 39 charter members. By March of 1954, the church found and purchased a property and building on Ridgely Avenue. Weems Creek is still at this location today. God has been continually been faithful to provide growth and opportunities for the Church to advance the Great Commission as the light of His infinite glory shines forth.
