Weems Creek Church

Who is shaping what your kids and grandkids believe?

In these busy, hectic days we take them to sports practices, games, music lessons, school tutoring and other activities to give our children the best opportunities for success. But what if we’re missing the chance to teach them what matters most?

Our children and grandchildren can grow up smart, athletic, popular and polite but lack a vibrant relationship with Jesus. The few hours they spend in church each week can be helpful, but it cannot nurture a faith in our kids that will withstand the trials and questions that are on the horizon. Church alone cannot teach them, we must start at home. But many parents feel ill equipped to develop the faith of their children. This will change at the It Starts at Home Conference.

We invite you to join us August 27 at 9:00 AM at Weems Creek Church in Annapolis for the It Starts at Home Conference.  At this dynamic, practical, and inspiring conference, Kurt and Olivia Bruner, authors of the book It Starts at Home, and RightNow Media video curriculum by the same name, will be speaking on parenting, grandparenting, and building a strong marriage.  Faith formation in the next generation begins in the home.  Are you ready to build a more God-honoring home?

About the Speakers

Kurt and Olivia Bruner have four biological children, two adopted children and one terrific daughter-in-law.  Kurt worked with Focus on the Family for twenty years where he served as Group Vice President over all media and communications including publishing, films, broadcasting, marketing and audio drama.  In 2007 he accepted the call to become pastor of spiritual formation at Lake Pointe Church near Dallas where he pioneered the HomePointe strategy for creating a culture of intentional families.  He continues to work closely with Lake Pointe Church serving the hundreds of churches that have customized our model.  He also oversees communications for Open Doors International, a ministry serving persecuted Christians worldwide. He has written over twenty non-fiction books with combined sales of over 700,000 copies and three dystopian novels authored in collaboration with Dr. James Dobson. He graduated with a masters degree in theology from Talbot Seminary and now serves on the adjunct faculty of Dallas Theological Seminary where he lectures in the Th.M. and D.Min. programs.

Start Building A More God-Honoring Home Now

Weems Creek has partnered with Homepointe and RightNow Media to distribute the It Starts at Home video curriculum free of charge. It Starts at Home gives the philosophy behind the Faith@Home emphasis at Weems Creek. For better or worse, the home is the primary context for spiritual formation and we have made available to you a six-part video series that will help you become more intentional in your parenting, grandparenting and in your marriage. We invite you to go through these videos by yourself or with your spouse and take time to talk about how you can take steps to make your home more God-honoring. Each Bible Study session includes interviews with parents talking about their own doubts and fears as well as powerful teaching to equip and inspire you from Gary Thomas, Matt Chandler and It Starts at Home Conference speakers Kurt and Olivia Bruner. Watch the series online or if you would like to participate in a Sunday Morning Bible Study going through this curriculum together, come to Adult 1 taught by Andy Hallmark Sundays at 9:45AM.
